    Hello,

What is the best way to get to Lauterbrunnen from Zurich airport please ?

Do we need to get first to zurich train station and then Interlaken and then Lauterbrunnen ?

Do you recommend separate tickets or there is a card to get ?

PS : we will do zurich => Lauterbrunnen and vise versa only twice to get there and to leave.

    Hi Ghada khayat,

The train is definitely the best way to travel from Zurich Airport to Lauterbrunnen. The airport has its own train station located in the same building in the lower levels. You can find the details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/airports/zurich.

The journey from Zurich Airport to Lauterbrunnen takes about 3 hours with one change in Interlaken Ost. You can check train schedules here: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

Based on your travel plans, getting a point-to-point ticket might be more cost effective. Please find more details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland

Hope this helps in some ways.

    Regards,

    Anna

There are several direct trains per day Zurich Flughafen (airport) – Interlaken. Look for an IC81 route train

    Hi Ghada kayat!

Will you be making any day trips from Lauterbrunnen? If so, you’re probably better off with a rail pass. Normal tickets for (mountain) excursions are pretty expensive. This page can help you determine which pass or ticket is best for your plans: https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.

    Hi Ghada khayat,

That’s great. The Berner Oberland Pass is a great choice for your trip.

    Hello Anna & all,

thank you for your help, I must admit that few things are still not clear for us but we are on a good way !

@anna can we get a train to Lauterbrunnen from zurich airport train station ? Or from zurich airport we have to leave the airport and go to a train station ?

If we buy the Oberland passes first, we get a 50% off on the ticket from the airport to Lauterbrunnen ?

    thank you !

    To repeat my earlier post:

There are several direct trains per day Zurich Flughafen (airport) – Interlaken. Look for an IC81 route train

    To clarify once more:

    1) Flughafen is the German word for airport

    2) Zurich Flughafen station is the inter-city station within the airport complex. It is served by dozens of trains every hour throughout the day, both local and long distance

    3) to get to anywhere in Switzerland by train from Zurich airport just make your way through the terminal to the Flughafen station

    4) to get to Lauterbrunnen, take a route IC81 train. Trains on this route go direct from Zurich Flughafen to Interlaken Ost. At Interlaken Ost change to the narrow gauge BOB train for the short direct journey to Lauterbrunnen

    No.

The BO Pass is valid for free travel from Bern to Lauterbrunnen via Interlaken. You would need a point to point full price ticket Zurich – Bern

    Hello Ghada khayat,

Yes, you can board a train at Zurich airport and take yourself to Lauterbrunnen. Do use the timetable link so you can view the departure times you would have, together with all the necessary changes. https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

Signs to the train platforms at the airport are well sign posted. You should be able to reach there, quite easily. Essentially, it is located at the lower /basement levels upon exit of arrivals. https://www.myswissalps.com/airports/zurich

In order to obtain a 50% discount for your Zurich airport to Lauterbrunnen journey, you would need to purchase the Swiss Half Fare Card. The Berner Oberland Pass will have no weighting. Otherwise, as per 1960man, you will need to purchase a full price point to point ticket.

More details on the Swiss Half Fare Card here: https://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
