We’re spending just 3 days/nights in Switzerland this summer and have somewhat narrowed down our trip to focus in Murren region. Can anyone please recommend the best options, flexibility and cost, for the proper rail pass options for really only going to/from Zurich airport into/out of Murren? (No other rail needed in other countries.)

I’ve been able to tell which ones are not good choices, but am having trouble narrowing down best option(s)? I appreciate any advice! Thank you, Julie

HI Julie and welcome to MySwissAlps!

If are only using trains to and from Mürren and Zurich airport then perhaps just buying a point to point ticket would be fine. Use the SBB rail timetable for schedules and fares. You could also look at Swiss Transfer Pass as well if it really is just those 2 trains during your trip.

Do take a look at the Swiss Travel Pass as well though. It covers virtually all forms of transport in Switzerland (including local transit in most cases). Our page will show where what the Pass covers, where it is valid and how to buy it – if you think it will be cost effective for you.

The STP is also very convenient – just print it at home and have it on you when in Switzerland – no need to queue for tickets each time you travel etc.

The Mürren area which is in the Jungfrau region is a great choice for seeing some of the best of Switzerland during your brief stay. Look through the information page I linked for more ideas of what to do and see and where to stay!
