IntroductionWhoever feels like a good climb (800 m, 2,600 ft) can try the hike from Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg. This hike ought to take about three hours, but if you like to take your time and enjoy the impressive views, you will probably need more time. The end point of Kleine Scheidegg offers the opportunity to rest at one of the pavement cafes, which offer again a great view of the mountains. You might even be surprised by the sound of a French horn. Transportation to WengenWengen can be reached by train from Lauterbrunnen, where you can park your car as well. The rest of the area can not be reached by car. From Kleine Scheidegg, you can take the train to Lauterbrunnen, or to Grindelwald Grund to change trains to Grindelwald (center). Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation). Route descriptionFollow the signs to Kleine Scheidegg. The first part of this route leads through the lovely car-free village of Wengen. Quickly hereafter the path enters a forest and the first steep ascent begins. When you leave the forest, there is a splendid view on the Jungfrau after the curve. The last part runs parallel to the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
