Introduction

This is an uncomplicated walk on a good path. You need to take into account that you may have to cross some small streams at the end of the route. Then you will reach the end of the glacier, which unfortunately gets shorter by the year due to global warming. Signs along the path indicate how far the glacier once reached. That makes this walk very educational.

Transportation to Morteratsch

Morteratsch can be reached by car and by train from Pontresina and the Berninapass. Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation).

Follow the signs to the glacier and take the same way back.
