Introduction

This short route, running through meadows, offers nice views at the Hinterstocken lake and the Stockhorn. It can be easily combined with a visit to the viewing point at the Stockhorn’s peak.

Transportation to Hinterstockensee

The Hinterstocken lake can be reached by taking the gondola up to the Stockhorn from the village of Erlenbach. Leave the gondola at the mid station of Chrindi. You can reach Erlenbach by train or by car from Spiez or Zweisimmen. There is a parking lot at the gondola’s valley station. From Erlenbach’s railway station, it takes a 15 minute walk to the gondola. Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation).

Route description

From the gondola station of Chrindi, follow the path along the lake. Depending on the direction you choose, you will pass through two small tunnels either at the beginning or at the end of the route.
