IntroductionThe hike between Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg is not difficult at all. This is a good route to enjoy peace and quiet. It can be interrupted with a visit to the Trümmelbachfälle at the opposite side of the valley. You will pass some beautiful waterfalls among which the well-known Staubbachfall just outside Lauterbrunnen. You have a continuous view of the striking Breithorn at the end of the valley. Just before Stechelberg, you will pass a gondola that can take you up to Mürren. If you end your hike here, it can be combined well with the hike Mürren – Grütschalp. Transportation to LauterbrunnenLauterbrunnen can be reached by train or car from Interlaken, or from Grindelwald via Zweilütschinen. Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation). Route descriptionFollow the signs to Stechelberg. The easy asphalt path starts in Lauterbrunnen and leads you south to Stechelberg without noticeable ascents or descents. About 45 minutes before reaching Stechelberg the path switches from asphalt to sand, and continues its way along a small river and through woods until the endpoint. You will reach the valley station of the gondola to the Schilthorn first. The village of Stechelberg is beyond it.
