IntroductionThe highlight of this route is the Giessbach waterfall. About 2 km (1.2 miles) of the route to Giessbach runs through a narrow motorway to Axalp and Giessbach. This isn’t a very busy road, but you should pay attention to the traffic using it. After having left this road, you will descend along the spectacular Giessbach waterfall to the lake. A nearly flat path along the shores of Lake Brienz, and through a shady forest, takes you to the village of Iseltwald. Some impressive rock masses can be seen along this path on your left. You may want to start off at Giessbach, in order to avoid walking through the motorway. For details, refer to the route Giessbach-Iseltwald.
