IntroductionThis easy route is particularly suited for wheelchair users, people with baby buggies, and anyone who would like to take a simple hike in a splendid high mountain landscape. There are hardly any differences in height at this plateau, and the path is paved with gravel. You will have a wonderful view at the mountain peaks surrounding the plateau. The Grossstrubel, part of the Wildstrubel range, is the highest point and marks the boundary with the canton of Wallis. Engstligenalp is a winter sports area in the winter, and a giant meadow in summer. At the small farms dairy products can be bought. Typical for this landscape are the large rocks lying in the grasslands, and the small clear streams that drain off the melting water from the surrounding mountains. Transportation to EngstligenalpYou will reach Engstligenalp by a gondola from Unter dem Birg near Adelboden. There is a parking lot at Unter dem Birg, which can also be reached by bus from Adelboden. Adelboden can be reached by bus from Frutigen. Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation). Route descriptionFollow the signs ‘Rundweg Engstligenalp’ until you get back to the gondola station. Please note that there may be a slight deviation between the detailed map and the actual trail.
