IntroductionThe hike starts off with a 182 m (600 ft) climb through a narrow asphalt road, running along the cog railway between Interlaken and Grindelwald. The surrounding landscape consists of meadows with chalets. The part between Burglauenen and Schwendi is nearly flat en runs through a forest, parallel to the river the Schwarze Lütschine. This route is part of the longer route Lütschental – Grindelwald Grund. Transportation to LütschentalLütschental can be reached by train from Interlaken or Grindelwald. Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation). Route descriptionAt the end of the Lütschental railway station’s platform, turn left. Cross the bridge and start following the signs pointing to Grindelwald to the right when you have reached the mainroad. After about 100 m (330 ft) you have to cross the main road and walk into a smaller road running upwards. Keep following the direction of Grindelwald. At Schwendi, turn left over the bridge leading to the railway station. Transportation from SchwendiFrom Schwendi, you can travel to Grindelwald or Interlaken by train.
