Introduction

This walk consists of a 182 m (600 ft) climb through a narrow asphalt road, running parallel to the railway between Interlaken and Grindelwald. You will pass a friendly landscape with meadows and chalets and have views of the Wetterhorn, the Oberer Grindelwald glacier and Schynige Platte. This route is part of the longer hike Lütschental – Grindelwald Grund.

Transportation to Lütschental

Lütschental can be reached by train from Interlaken or Grindelwald. Will you be traveling to and from hiking areas frequently? A Swiss Pass or one of the other passes grants easy access to the entire Swiss Travel System (trains, buses, boats and mountain transportation).

Route description

At the end of the Lütschental railway station’s platform, turn left. Cross the bridge and start following the signs pointing to Grindelwald to the right when you have reached the main road. After about 100 m (330 ft) you have to cross the main road and walk into a smaller road running upwards. Keep following the direction of Grindelwald until you reach the Burglauenen railway station.

Transportation from Burglauenen

From Burglauenen, you can travel to Grindelwald or Interlaken by train.
