How to get there and back
Grächen can be reached by car or by bus from the railway station in St. Niklaus.
Route
Turn left into the Dorfweg as you leave the post office/bus station, and head for the church square. Then take the road slightly uphill, between the bank and restaurant Walliser Kanne. Furtheron, follow the signs to Zum See. Zum See is a small lake with a hotel/restaurant. Head for Eggeri/Hohtschuggo from here. You will walk along the open waterworks after a while. Keep following this path. You will cross a ski lift route after about 2 km (1.2 miles), followed by a field. Just before Hohtschuggo, there is a steep descent that takes about 15 minutes. Then turn right to reach the restaurant of Hohtschuggo in 3 minutes, or turn left to continue your hike straight away. Follow the signs to Bärgji/Grächen now. You will pass by a small church in Egga as you follow the road to Grächen.
