Hi Please review my below Itinerary.

• 27th June Day 1: We will arrive in Zurich at 11:00 AM. Will Depart from the airport after baggage collection to Interlaken West.

Question :

1) We have Swiss travel pass(e-pass). Purchased from swiss railways do we need to activate this at the Zurich Airport Station?

We should be in our hotel around 4 PM. What can we do around interlaken at this time? Best Option?

• 28th June: Jungfrau (Top of Europe) from Wengen and return from Grindelwald. We will stay in Grindelwald for sometime to see around.
• 29th June: Schilthorn and Trümmelbach Falls

2) Ques: To visit this fall what descend should we choose?

We want to visit this place after visiting Schilthorn.

3) Can we also visit Lauterbrunnen during this day?

• 30th June: Bern: Lausanne, Montreux and chillion castle
• 1 July: Lake Thun and Lake Basel with it’s villages and Bern . or suggest something other?
• 2 july : Our Flight will depart from Zurich evening 6:00PM so we are thinking of to drop our baggage at Lucerene at 10AM and do some sightseeing in Lucerene for 3-4 hours.

4) Suggest the best place to visit in Lucerene.

Actually we still not sure what to visit om 29th and 30th. Suggest some thing for these 2 days or do you think above is fine for 29th and 30th?

Hi Guish! Here are some answers:

1) No, such print at home passes don’t require any further activation. Your names and travel dates should be printed on them, so you’re ready to travel right after landing.

2) The Trümmelbach falls are kind of in between Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg, so both descents (either using the cable car between Mürren and Stechelberg, or the cog train to Grütschalp and the cable car down to Lauterbrunnen) will be fine. From both Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg, buses will get you to the falls. Enter “Trümmelbachfälle” as you destination in the timetable to find all options.

3) Yes, you’ll easily manage to visit Lauterbrunnen too.

4) Our personal tips are listed at our Lucerne page.

I think your plans for June 29 are fine. I’m not that sure about June 30. Are you actually planning to spend the night in Bern? If so, it’s quite a long day trip to visit both Lausanne and Montreux. It can certainly be done, but focusing on the Bernese Oberland is another option. It all depends on what you and your travel party like to visit most, and what amount of traveling is acceptable to you.

As for July 1: Lake Basel doesn’t exist. Did you mean Lake Brienz instead? If Lake Thun and Lake Brienz are your desinations, Bern isn’t the most convenient base town. You may reconsider spending those nights in Bern and just spend all of your nights in or near Interlaken instead. If you still like to travel to Montreux in that case, consider the Golden Pass line.

Hi Annika

Sorry for the typo.

I am confused of my itinerary of 30 June and 1st July.

Our base is interlaken west for our complete trip.

30th June : Visiting Bern,Luasanne and Montreux..Is it feasible on the same day. We are 2 adults.No kids?

Or do you think any other place instead of these will be more scenic?

1 July: Lake Brienz and Thun.

– Lauterbrunnen is a very small village, you can do it in about 10 minutes. You can walk to the Staubbach Falls and climbe to it (40 minutes).

– You can do Bern and Lake Thun do on one day. Train from Interlaken West to Bern, visit Bern, train from Bern to Thun, long boat trip from Thun to Interlaken West.

– When you see the Thunersee, you can cancel the Brienzersee. The Thunersee is very nice to do.

– Lausanne and Montreux on one day is possible. From Interlaken West to Spiez and Zweisimmen. Change on the Golden Pass train (MOB train) and go to Montreux.

You can learn how long the travel times are that you propose for 30.6.

If you do all that…which you can do, you will not see very much of any of the towns.

Thanks guys for helping me out.

You are right instead of making the days hectic,it’s better to enjoy a single place.

On 30th June, We are thinking of to going to Montreux and if time permit Lausanne.

On 1 st July: Lake Brienz and Brienz Rothorn Train, How’s this train experience, is it good to go or something other we should do?

Hi Guish,

The Brienzer Rothorn train is very nice: myswissalps.com/ brienzerrothorn. Are you aware that the Schynige Platte train from Wilderswil is free with your Swiss Travel Pass? It’s a similar experience, but the Rothorn is easier to combine with a boat trip as the boat from Interlaken arrives where the train departs.

The Brienzer Rothorn bahn is very nice. The most trains are with steam locomotives. The railwaystation BRB is on the other site of the street from the boat and train station Brienz. Only one minutes to walk.

When you go to Brienzersee and Schynige Platte Bahn, it is better go by train to Brienz, by boat to Interlaken Ost, by BOB-train (5 minutes) to Wilderwil and go to Schynige Platte. When it is nice weather you have a very good view on the Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch in the afternoon.
