Website technology

We took the following into account during the design of this website in order to be of service to as many people as possible:

• The site must be conveniently arranged so that searching information is easy.
• A screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels is sufficient.
• File sizes are kept to a minimum in order to realize a short download time. Large pictures are not shown until you have clicked on the identical but smaller picture. Furthermore, all pages have been programmed manually without the help of graphical web editor software or other code generators. Large downloadable files are stored on a separate server to prevent speed reduction for other visitors.
• The chance of encountering technical problems due to the web browser that you are using should be as small as possible. That is why Java scripts are only used in case no other options are available or when user-friendliness benefits from it. For this reason, Java script should be enabled in your browser, otherwise some things will not work or work less convenient. The pages are composed by ASP (Active Server Pages) and ASP.NET. The HTML code of all pages is validated and corrected where possible.
• We are using so-called 'persistent cookies'. Persistent cookies are small files that are put on your computer by a website and remain there for a certain period of time, e.g. 6 months. We use a 'session cookie' as well. This file will only be present on your computer while you are visiting our website and does only contain a number.
• Advertisement may take a small portion of the screen and may not bother normal usage of the website in any way. Advertisement is geared to the subject and audience of the website.

Other things worth knowing:

• This website attempts to determine which language you prefer (English or Dutch) as soon as you enter it. If it can not be determined that you accept Dutch then English will be presented. You may choose another language by clicking on the flag in the upper right corner of the homepage.
• We have taken all possible precautions to prevent your e-mail address from being used by third parties to send spam (unsolicited advertisement), if you submit your e-mail address on this website (for example when submitting your review about a trail).
