The map of the Day Pass for Switzerland
The Day Pass is valid within the area of validity of the GA Travelcard (a rail card for Swiss residents). Download the map for all details.
How the map works
- The route types are explained in the legend on the map.
- Traveling with the Day Pass applies to all trains that operate on the indicated lines and that are listed in the timetables. The train type (InterCity, local, panoramic) and the operating company do not matter. The Glacier Express, Bernina Express, GoldenPass, and other panoramic trains are thus included.
- There are too many bus routes to fit on the map. In principle, all public bus services are included.
When is the Day Pass a good choice?
We rarely use it ourselves. The Saver Day Pass is the cheaper option, so that’s our preference. The Saver Day Pass requires you to plan ahead though. If you can’t do that, the Day Pass is a handy alternative that you can buy at any time for a fixed price.
If you plan to travel frequently, the Swiss Travel Pass is often a better option than the combination of a Swiss Half Fare Card and Day Passes or discounted Saver Day Passes.
Day Pass FAQ
-
Which Day Pass do I need if I don’t have a Swiss Half Fare Card?
In that case, the Saver Day Pass is the only option.
-
Are Day Pass and 1-day travelpass the same?
Yes. The Day Pass was named “1-day travelpass” until 2021.
-
What is the “9 o’clock travelpass”?
This was a cheaper Day Pass that allowed traveling after 9:00 AM. It was for sale until 2017.
There’s also the “9 O’Clock day pass”, which is valid for Zurich and its surroundings. Learn about it here.
