How to travel to the castles
The castles are located in and just outside Bellinzona. The best way to get there is by train.
How to reach Bellinzona
Bellinzona can be reached by train and by car. To reach the castles, we recommend a walk for the best experience.
Walk to one castle
You can do a short walk from the train station to the town center and to Castelgrande. Please find details here. The Villa dei Cedri museum is about 10 minutes off route, so that would add 20 minutes to your walk.
Walk to all castles
There is a longer route from the train station to the town center and to Castelgrande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro. Please find details here. The Villa dei Cedri museum is about 10 minutes off route, so that would add 20 minutes to your walk.
Visit by mini train
There's a mini road train called 'Artù', departing from the center of town for a 1.5 hour tour along all castles and the Villa dei Cedri museum.
Visit by bus
The Castelgrande is close to the train station and can be reached on foot. The Villa dei Cedri museum and the castles up the hill, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro, can be reached by bus.
Visit by car
Parking near Montebello, Sasso Corbaro and the Villa dei Cedri museum is available, but the number of spots is limited.
A walk along the castles can be done year round (weather permitted).
The castle museums are open from 10 AM to 6 PM (10:30 AM to 4 PM from November to mid March). The museums of Montebello and Sasso Corbaro are closed from early November to mid March.
The Villa dei Cedri museum is open from 2 PM to 6 PM from Wednesday to Friday and 10 AM to 6 PM during weekends and public holidays. The park is open every day.

Find train and bus schedules for your trip. The names of the bus stops near the castles up the hill are 'Bellinzona, Cast. Montebello' and 'Bellinzona, Cast. Sasso Corbaro'. The bus stop 'Bellinzona, Isolabella' is a few minutes on foot from the Villa dei Cedri museum.
