What clothing for early April in Switzerland?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler plans to visit Switzerland from April 6-11, traveling from Zurich to Lucerne, then to Jungfraujoch and Matterhorn. They are unsure if they need to bring big winter coats, especially since they want to avoid carrying bulky items unless necessary in higher elevations. It’s important to prepare for unpredictable mountain weather.

Key takeaways:
  • Be prepared for variable weather, especially in the mountains, where conditions can change quickly.
  • Bring a warm coat just in case or be ready to purchase one locally if needed.
  • Consider lighter layers that you can add or remove easily instead of a bulky winter coat.

    Hi LOswald,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

The weather is one of the harder parts to predict during a trip overall but especially to Switzerland due to it’s mountain climat. Find out more details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/nature

So when heading to the mountains or being close you have to be prepared for practically everything. I personally would take a nice, warm coat along, or be prepared to buy one if needed.

    Happy planning and stay warm.

    Steph
