    Hi,

we’re 2 seniors planning to travel from Paris to Geneva and then on to Thun where we will spend 6 days traveling by train in the Bern Oberland area. Then back to Geneva to go to Avignon for a few days, and last part of trip from Avignon to Barcelona.

We are concerned about the global Eurail pass covering our trips to and from Thun, Bern, Murren, Lauterbrunnen, etc. Would we be better off getting a Swiss travel pass for all these city-city Swiss travels and doing the trips outside of Switzerland as point-to-point tickets?

Thanks so much for your help!

    Welcome to MySwissAlps JeanneH!

What’s included in the several passes can be found here:

A Eurail Pass is often not the best option for Switzerland.

    When will this trip be?

June 30 – July 6. Yes my big concern is traveling between cities and not having the global pass accepted. Thank you so much for your help. Jeanne & Dale

Ok, in June/July the 3rd pass I mentioned will be valid too (it’s only available for summer). The Eurail Global Pass will work for traveling between the cities, no problem there. The limitation is in the smaller railways and cableways which are not all covered or not even discounted. Buying regular tickets there could add up quickly. You can do the math as explained here.
