I have a 1st Class Swiss Rail Pass which I want to use for the Bernina Express. However, on my date to take the Express, the only seat reservations were for second class. I booked the second class seat reservations….will I have a problem using my 1st Class train reservation and my 2nd class seating? Thank you

    Hi Taylorkathym,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

I don’t think it will be an issue riding the Bernina Express in 2nd Class if you have a 1st Class ticket or railpass.

    Enjoy your trip.

    regards,

    Anna

Throughout time, it has never been a problem to ride at a ‘lower class’ than the ticket you have. It is, for obvious reasons, rarely by personal choice because you lose out on space and comfort!

If I were you I would ask a member of staff as soon as you get to the train in case they can help you get into 1st class ‘on the spot’

Alternatively, depending on where you are starting your trip, take regular express trains part of the way – you will see the same scenery.
