2 hours at Montreux – suggestions

    Hi,

    We are a group of 11 Pax travel on 20th May from Geneva to Montruex to Lauterbrunnen. We would prefer to take the Golden Line Panoramic train.

    One option available is 15:44 (D2128) hrs train from Montruex. In this option we get about 2 hours at Montreux.

    What are the possible activities that we can undertake in this 2 hour. Also, we will be having luggage with us and hence we may have to use the locker facility to deposit it for the excursion. So, is there any excursion that can be undertaken in such a short duration ?

    Alternatively there is a 13:44 hrs train from Montruex, which on SBB site is mentioned as Golden Pass Classic (D 3126) till Zweisimmen and then Panoramic till Interlaken (4076). Is the experience in this journey amazing for us to prefer to take this then plan a 2 hr excursion at Montreux.

    Please advice based on your experience.

    Hi Namrata and welcome to MySwissAlps!

    Looking at the train schedules from Montreux to Interlaken (where you will have to change trains to Lauterbrunnen) the 13:44 is I think a nicer option. The “Belle Epoque” is the classic heritage train cars that are still panoramic (very large windows) and then your connection from Zweisimmen is the Golden Pass panoramic train to Interlaken.

    If you take the later train you will be on a more modern panoramic train to Zweisimmen and then a regional train to Interlaken.
