Hello. I have lots of questions and I hope you do not mind. My hubby and I will go to Switzerland from Milan for about 3 to 4 days in 3rd week of Sept then to the Alsace region of France.although its still far, just wanna know the details in advance.

    1. Is Swiss travel pass all worth it? And how much per person?

1.am not sure if I understand it right, but with swiss pass,no need to book tickets and can hop on off at your pace? Will this swiss travel card be delivered to Ontario Canada for free? Or we need to pick this up from somewhere?

    2. Is going to Montreaux from Milan free with swiss travel plan?

    3. How and where can I book golden pass ticket from Montreaux to Lucerne?but we want to stay overnight in Lauterbrunnen. Is it ok to hop off at Interlaken so we can go stay overnight at Lauterburnnen? Then continue our journey the next day from Interlaken finally to Lucern?

    4. How and where to buy tickets going to Lauterburnnen and how much? Or Is it included in the swiss pass(free)?

5 what activities to do in Lauterbrunnen?

    6. Are their cheap airbnb’s or inns in this quaint town? How much a night for 2 adults single room?

    7. How to get to Alsace region France, say to Colmar from Lucern? And is swiss pass included(free)? I hope so

    Welcome to MySwissAlps Lizzie!

    Questions are welcome, no worries.

    1. That depends on your plans. For many people it’s worth it but if you don’t travel a lot it might not be. Prices, and help on how to determine which pass is cheapest, can be found here:

    2. The Swiss leg (Domodossola to Montreux) is free. You can check such details on the Swiss Travel Pass map: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity. You’ll need a ticket for the Italian leg, which won’t be too expensive: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.

    3. You don’t need tickets with a Swiss Travel Pass. Please see http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/tickets for further details. You can in any case hop off wherever you want.

    4. Indeed no tickets required.

    5. Please see our Lauterbrunnen page: http://www.myswissalps.com/la uterbrunnen/activities

    6. Please see the hotel section on the previous link. We don’t recommend Airbnb: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac commodation/airbnb.

    7. All train schedules can be found in the timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

    Does this help you out?

Thank you for this! Follow up questions.

2.From the map, I noticed dash line starting form Domodossola. What does that mean? Also, if I book separate ticket for Italian leg, I checked in SBB site and there are several Domodossola options. Such as Domodossola (I), Domodossola Scapacino , Stazione, via Torino, via Turati, etc. Which one should I choose?

3.1. Since my travel is from Montreaux to Lucerne but a stop at Interlaken to go to Lauterbrunnen the next day, is train ride from Montreaux to Zweissimen specifically for free with swiss pass?Or separate ticket? And does it need any reservation? I want to experience riding old-school train.

3.2. Additionally, which stop from Montreaux should we get off on our way to Lauterbrunnen? I was kind of overwhelmed with the map. From the looks of things, is it at Spiez station? Then from there, take a bus ride going to Lauterbrunnen proper? Also free with swiss pass? I researched last time and said you need to book separate ticket for this as it’s a private owned transportation. Please advise.

    7. Just a follow up with item 7, with swiss pass, is it free from Lucerne to Colmar (Alsace region). From the timetable (sbb site), it does not indicate if it’s free with swiss pass.

    Hi Lizzie,

    2. The dashed line is a tunnel and fully covered. If you download the Swiss Travel Pass map (see my previous post) you’ll see it in the legend. The station name you need is “Domodossola (I)”. All the longer names are bus stops. On most websites it’s simply called “Domodossola”: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy/price. If your train continues to Switzerland you can stay seated in Domodossola.

3.1. Yes, it is free (see the map for full details). For reservations, see the link in my previous post under 3.

3.2. There is a direct train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen. The timetable provides all details of each trip (where to change, etc.). All of that trip is free. You may have researched for a Eurail pass last time. Then it’s different.

    7. It’s free to the border at Basel (see the map). You need a ticket for the French leg: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france/pric e. The timetable is geared to Swiss citizens. So it’s handy for train schedules but don’t use it to check tourist pass coverage. The maps I mentioned get you all the details. Note that SwissPass is for Swiss citizens. The pass you’re looking into is the Swiss Travel Pass.
