Found myswissalps.com very helpful, especially reading through the forum questions and answers. I have developed a rather detailed 4 day itinerary for our visit and would be very interested in having someone look it over to provide constructive comments.

Travelers: 6 Seniors, ages 70 to 75. Arriving in Basel on 11/26/2019 (Tuesday, late afternoon). Plan includes day trips to Zurich on 11/27; Montreux/Lausanne on 11/28; Lucerne on 11/29; Basel city tour on 11/30. Plan to use the BaselCard, will purchase 3 Day SwissPass, already purchased GoldenPass Rail reserved seats (Spiez to Montreux); and have Basel hotel booked for 4 nights. Will catch a Christmas River Cruise on 11/30 (late afternoon), Basel to Amsterdam. See attached 4 Day Itinerary.

    Thank you.

    Hi Kona,

Welcome to MySwissAlps, and thank you for your compliments regarding our website! Note that you do not need a SwissPass (mainly for Swiss residents), but rather a Swiss Travel Pass. You’ll find all details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass.

I congratulate you on taking the time to plan your trip in that much detail. You have prepared well! Please share the questions you want help with, as 11 pages is a bit too much to read for the moderators and other participants.

    Hello Kona,

congratulations for your incredibly well prepared itinerary.

I assume you have considerrd a possible jetlag in your plans. In the trade-off between the comfort of a fixed base and the inconvenience of back and forth train rides you’ve made your decision.

The Olympic Museum will be worthwhile mainly if you have a strong interest in sports ( do you visit Halls of Fame in your own country?), otherwise you may consider skipping that.

    Enjoy the trip!

    Snowman,

Appreciate your comments, lots for us to think about. Yes, we are concerned about jet lag, and will review the information on the Olympic Museum. None of us are athletes or have strong sports interests, but we all faithfully watch the Olympic Games on television. We will be reviewing our ambitious itinerary. Except for the GoldenPass tickets purchased, we remain flexible and open to making changes. Thank you.

The HQ of the Olympic movement are in Lausanne. In the museum, you see samples of the Olympic Torch of every Olympic Games, of medals, etc. It is located at Ouchy on the lakeside near the ship landing so it is worthwile to go there even if you don’t visit the museum. You could travel to or from Montreux on one of the Belle Epoque lake steamers.
