We will be flying into Zurich the last week of September and staying in Switzerland for 4 nights. We would like to do some light hiking with scenic views and possibly visit vineyards/wineries. We found a lovely place in Gryon to do “glamping” so we thought we might be able to do some hiking around there. We will need to end in Geneva for an afternoon flight to Munich.

My questions are:

1. Is Chexbres the best city for vineyards/wineries & scenic views?

2. Should we skip the vineyards for something/somewhere else? Is September a good time for this?

2. Is Gryon a nice place to hike or close to good hiking?

3. Are there other places with the “glamping” (camping with a nice bed and gorgeous views) experience that would offer better hiking?

4. Where would you go if you only had 4 nights?

Thank you!

Hi Ad1291 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

  1. It is a good option yes. It is a great area in general for vineyards. You can easily check out Lavaux Vineyards (https://www.myswissalp s.com/hiking/lutry-epesses). Montreux and Lausanne also work if you want a larger town. https://www.myswissalp s.com/montreux & https://www.myswissalp s.com/lausanne
  2. For other ideas in the region look here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/southwestswitzer land/activities
  3. I haven't been to the Gryon area myself but Les Diablerets is close by, Rochers de Naye and the Glacier 3000 mountains aren't too far away.
  4. For the immediate area: There are cable cars leading to hikes to the mountain lakes of Lac de Chavonnes, Lac de Bretaye and Lac Noir.
  5. There are a few glamping options noted here: https://glampinghub.co m
