Hello we will be isiting the Jungfrau area this July. we are staying at Grindelwald July 17 arriving around 10:00am and will leave on the 21st early morning. I need some help figuring the best use of time for what we want to do. Here is our itinerary but not in order. we were hoping to do sightseeing in the moning and hike in the afternoon.

Jungfraujoch, panarama trail from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, Lauterbrunnen, Trummebach falls, Staubbach falls, Murren, Wengen, First, cliff walk, First flier, mountain carts, Trotti bikes, hike to Bachalpsee lake, hike to Grosse Scheidegg, Glacier canyon, Interlaken, Harder Klum.

Any suggestions on arranging these by day would be great. We will have 3 full days plus the day we arraive at 10 am

Where is the best place to buy a Jungfrau travel pass.

    Thanks

    ED

    Hello Edsusan,

Thanks for your sharing your plans.

Here you can read about where you can buy the Jungfrau Travel Pass.

As mountain weather can be unpredictable, best to check the weather forecast especially for your visit to the Jungfraujoch. Be a shame if you had bought tickets and the weather is not the best. https://www.myswissalps.com/weather/forecast

If the weather is great for the days you are here. A few suggestions/comments on your wishlist:

A good idea is to use the timetable link so you can plan view journey times, that way you can see what would be doable your side.

Also, take a look at the activity pages and click on the “route/getting there” tab, this is also a good way to plan your daily activities. For example:

I hope this helps and gets you started.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

Thank you for the advice and links, do the trains run late in the evening in July? It looks like the gondolas close around 1700.

Do you think the walk in the Lauterbrunnen vally to Trummelbach falls and then bus back to Lauterbrunnen and train to mannlichen to hike to Klein Scheidegg is to much for 1 day or could it be done in less?

    Thanks

    Hi ED,

Yes, trains to Grindelwald operate until just before midnight. You can check the train schedules on the SBB timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

I think combining the walk from Lauterbrunnen to Trummelbach Falls and the hike from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg in one day is doable.

The trail from Lauterbrunnen to Trummelbach Falls is fairly flat and can be completed in less than 2 hours: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/lauterbrunnen-stechelberg.

The Panoramaweg from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg is moderately easy: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/maennlichen-kleinescheidegg. From Kleine Scheidegg you can take a train back to Grindelwald.

    Regards,

    Anna

Thanks Anna, we have been planning this trip for months. It seems like getting the details of certain things is difficult on the internet. We would like to take the boat in lake Breinse, is it set up where you can hop off at one stop then hop on another boat to either continue on or return to home port?

    Thanks

    Ed

    Hi Ed,

You can find useful tips about planning a boat trip on Lake Brienz here: http://www.myswissalps.com/boatlakebrienz

With a Swiss Travel Pass or Jungfrau Travel Pass, you simply get on the boat and you can hop on and off as many times as you wish. The boats follow a schedule so make sure you study the timetable and plan ahead.

    Regards,

    Anna
