    Hi:

we bought the 8 days Swiss travel pass although we’re staying only 6 days in Switzerland. Flying into and out Zurich in September. We’re active senior couple.

    our plan so far is:

    – Arrive Zurich 8:00

    1 night in Bern

3 nights in Lauterbrunnen or interlaken.

    2 nights in Lucern

fly out of Zurich around 5:00 pm

    – we’re interested in scenic trains mostly. Is this possible??

    – How can we best take advantage of our Swiss Travel pass?

    – what do you think of the above itinerary??

    Thank you!!

    Hi Maysa moulhe,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

It’s great that you have purchased the Swiss Travel Pass. You’re basically ready to travel and there’s no need to worry about buying tickets to each of the destination on your itinerary.

If you enjoy scenic trips, I recommend an excursion to Mt Rigi and also the Golden Round trip to Pilatus. Also, you can plan boat trips on Lake Thun while you are in Interlaken. Based on your plans, you might be able to include a scenic train ride on the Golden Pass route from Lucerne to Interlaken or part of the Voralpen Express to Lucerne.

You can find more suggestions and options from the following links:

Hope this gives you more ideas to add to your itinerary details.

    Regards,

    Anna

Almost every railway line in Switzerland is ‘scenic’. Most people asking questions on this forum want to go to three or four ‘famous’ places (usually Luzern the Jungfrau region and Zermatt), but there is lovely scenery and historic villages etc right across Switzerland. Maybe think about visiting some of those. For example the beautiful Jura mountains are rarely mentioned here which is a great pity. And many people don’t realise that you get the best overall view of the Alps from the top of the Jura mountains!
