Hi Swatiraj and welcome to MySwissAlps!

You could look at 2 rail passes. Either the Swiss Travel Pass (8 days) which will cover all train routes you list above, except outside of Switzerland of course. For that you need to buy a ticket from Basel to Paris.

The other option is the Regional Pass – Bernese Oberland, (4 days) which will cover days 4 to Day 7 (as far as Bern, then you need to buy a ticket to Paris from Bern). Day 1 you just need a ticket to your Zurich hotel and Day 2 is walkable if you plan on staying in town, Day 3 the ticket to Luzern is fairly cheap.

Let us know if you have more questions! I would lean towards the Swiss Travel Pass – much simpler. If you want more details on what to do at or near each town click on the ‘what to do tab‘ after clicking on the following links:

I would change your itinerary for just 1 night in Zurich and then 3 nights in Luzern instead to help you visit the mountains you mention and add a panoramic train. You could do 2 mountain trips in one day when in Luzern as well (but it is a long day).

Check train schedules to towns and mountains here. The easiest panoramic train trip you can do on your trip is the Golden Pass route from Luzern to Montreux – this could be more easily done if you move a night to Luzern as mentioned above.

    Hello Lucas ,

Thanks again for replying ..We can not change the itinerary since the accomodations are already done .Plus we will be arriving late in the evening at Zurich so can not check out the next morning itself. May be we can cut one mountain and add the Golden pass while shifting to Thun from Lucerne.

Is this doable ? What else do you suggest ?

Yes, I would cut at one of the mountains out – click on these links to read about each mountain to help you decide on the 2 you like best:

Yes, depending on your plans on your first day in Luzern, you could travel to Montreux on the Golden Pass route, then return on the quicker regional train to Thun later that day. 🙂
