6 nights in Appenzell, Gruyere, Montreux

hi,

We have planned 6 nights trip to Switzerland, will be landing in Zurich and booked to stay in Appenzell for 2 nights, 2 nights in Gruyere and last 2 nights in Montreaux.

We are confused whether we should rent a car or travel by train.

Which out of these options would work out economical and convenient?. if we opt for train, then should we be taking a pass or point to point tickets?

The route will be as follows:

• Zurich Airport to Appenzell,
• Appenzell to Gruyere
• Gruyere to Montreaux,
• Montreaux to Geneva airport
