Hi Shahshripal1 and welcome to MySwissAlps!
It is great that you are coming to Switzerland with your family.
You’ll find a useful guide with a calculation spreadsheet, which helps you to choose a rail pass in 5 steps at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass. The downloadable spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it’s valid” page for all available passes, be sure to study it carefully. Usually travelers choose the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) as this is the best and most convenient solution for trains in Switzerland. But as you are traveling from Paris end going to Rome, you should check also the Eurail Global Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/eu railglobalpass. Read more information regarding trains from France at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france and Italy at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.
Your 3 years old travels for free everywhere in Switzerland (trains, buses, boats, cable cars, funiculars, etc.), you do not need to buy any passes for him/her.
Lucerne will be a good base for you, you can find accommodation at http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne/hotels. As a day trip the Jungfrau region (http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion/activitie s) is very good from there, you can visit Schilthorn, Jungfraujoch, Lauterbrunnen. Also Zurich (http://www.myswissalps.com/zu rich) with the Rhine Falls (http://www.myswissalps.com/rh inefalls) is doable. In the Lake Lucerne region (http://www.myswissalps.com/la kelucerne/activities) you have more option for mountain trips:
- Rigi: http://www.myswissalps.com/ri gi
- Titlis: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis
- Pilatus: http://www.myswissalps.com/pi latus
- Stanserhorn: http://www.myswissalps.com/st anserhorn
I think these will cover your days, if you would like to take Golden Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass) you can get to Montreux, it is also a nice town: http://www.myswissalps.com/mo ntreux. You find the list of panoramic trains at http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/scenictrips/t rain, although the end of October is not the best season, as some of them don’t operate. (The Golden Pass operates all year round.)
ShroffchetanParticipant255 posts3 October 2019 at 17:48:31 #923100Luzern is a nice base and you can do day trip easily. Consider buying 8 days swiss travel pass even though you will be using 7 days since your plan involves a lot of travel

Thanks for quick revert.
Can u pls suggest any more places that i can go for or must visit place.
how is the weather in Switzerland as we are traveling with kid.
What is the reason for not taking panoramic train this in ocober.
AnnaModerator6362 posts4 October 2019 at 9:36:36 #923102Hi Shahshripal1,
I hope the links provided by Ildiko have been useful. As you will be based in Lucerne, she’s listed a few pages to help you plan your visit in Lucerne and the Jungfrau region.
Lucerne is also a good base to plan short excursions to Bern or Zurich.
http://www.myswissalps.com/zu rich/activities
http://www.myswissalps.com/be rn/activitiesUnfortunately, most of the panoramic trains except for the Golden Pass are not operational in October. But here are a few interesting scenic trips suggestions (besides the panoramic trains) that you might want to include in your itinerary
http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/scenictripsTo answer your question about the weather, please look up:
http://www.myswissalps.com/we ather and http://www.myswissalps.com/be sttimetovisit
There’s a link to Swiss Meteo forecast here http://www.myswissalps.com/we ather/forecastIdeally, you should dress in multiple layers to ensure you can adapt quickly when weather is changing through the days or when you visit higher areas. Also you want to have a rain coat, sun glasses and suntan lotion. A scarf and gloves are convenient if you plan to visit mountain tops.

Please find information about the Jungfraujoch on all the different tabs of the second link provided by Anna. You will find purchase options for tickets with the Swiss Travel Pass as well as detailed information about the possible routes there.

StephRemoved userParticipant72625 posts11 October 2019 at 18:31:38 #923107When I buy Swiss travel pass do I need to provide my travel date ?
Reason I want to ask is I will be arriving to Lucerne on 21 October and right now I decided to use my Swiss pass from 22 Oct but if all goes well than I will be using from 21 st as well
So once i give date 22 nd during booking swiss pass than can i use it from 21oct or if I booked for 21 st oct. Than my days will be count from 21 st or from the day i validate or use on particular day
AnnaModerator6362 posts11 October 2019 at 20:15:05 #923108Hi Shahripal1,
Yes you do need to provide your travel dates when you purchase the Swiss Travel Pass.
The details of how to use the Swiss Travel Pass can be found on this page:
http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/howtouseIf you need extra day of travel, e.g. that is not covered by the Swiss Travel Pass, the point-to-point tickets or the Saver Day Pass may work for you.
