We will be in Switzerland from early on sunday november 24th to mid day monday december 2nd. that is 8 days and 8 nights. I am looking forsuggestions for where to spend our time. We fly into Zurich.

We will be traveling quite light with only carry-on luggage, probably just backpacks. We are two people in our late twenties. We live in Colorado in the states and are quite active. We are big hikers and cross-country skiiers. We love scenic trains, history, and castles. We also like quirky culture, but if its between culture and nature/history, i would say the latter everytime. We are not big drinkers, and one of us is a vegetarian.

The only place definitely on our list so far is Bern. We hear there is a onion/garlic festival there on the 25th, does anyone know if that is worth going to?

We are also there late enough that there might be Christmas markets. I love christmas markets but i wouldn’t say its a priority.

Like i said we are traveling quite light, but if possible i think we’d prefer to have 2 or 3 bases where we stay and make day trips from there, but we would make an exception to get someplace very special.

I love the idea of some of the small villages like guarda and soglio. but i dont know if we could make that work with such a small amount of time.

I hope i covered everything. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions!
