Hi there. I intend to take the 4 days hiking and sledging pass to Jungfrau. But is it true that the validity starts only on the 17th Dec onwards?

Hi Nadia,

Yes I've I've seen that date as well - mid December is usually the start date.

I think there is less demand for early December and November due to poor winter hiking / snowshoeing and sledging conditions.

There is no regional pass for that area during that time period. You'll want to look at either the Swiss Half Fare Card or the Swiss Travel Pass I think. Though is depends on your plans for your 8 day trip.

Thanks Lucas for the speedy reply. And Ive got somemore questions. On top of spending 4 days in Interlaken, I intend to go to Zermatt, Lausanne and Montreux. My base would be Interlaken. Is this doable? Is there a regional pass for Zermatt, Lausanne and Montreux? Or should I just take 8 days Swiss travel pass?? Appreciate your kind advise?

Hi Nadia,

The Swiss Travel Pass would be best I think. There is a regional pass for Lake Geneva but it won't cover most of your trip to Lake Geneva and there is an Adventure Card for Zermatt: https://www.myswissalp s.com/adventurecard but I think one pass is easier than buying 2 or 3.

To know which pass is the best for your specific itinerary you need to plan out all trips you will make (train, bus, boat, cable car) and compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (and which routes/mountains are free or discounted). Once you have that information you can read our page here on how to choose the best rail pass. There is a spreadsheet there to help with the math. :)
