I really would like to get your expert opinions on which places we should go for our day trips. This is our first family trip to Switzerland, I am with my wife and 2 year old daughter in the first week of August. Your suggestions and inputs will be greatly appreciated. We would like to stay in a quite village in mountains.

Below is our tentative Itinerary

Day 1: After breakfast in Zurich Morning check out and drive to Berne and Bernese Oberland Region. Check in to the hotel/hotel apt/farm and drive to Planalp, Brienz and Lungern for day trip.

Day 2: After breakfast drive to Istelwald/Hader Kulm for day trip.

Day 3: After breakfast proceed for Jungfraujoch top of Europe via Grindalwald. Park the car in Grindalwald. Evening drive around Lauterbrunnen.

Day 4: After breakfast visit Blausee Nature Park and surrounding area Day trip.

Day 5: After breakfast drive to Gstaad for day trip.

Day 6: After breakfast go to Zermatt and then proceed for Matterhorn/Gornergrat. Park the car in Tasch. Evening free at Leisure. Overnight in Zermatt or any other place which you can recommend as we need to head back to Zurich.

Day 7: Kindly advise which place we can visit on this day.

Day 8: Zurich Day trip.

Hi Flyboy and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Looks like a nice plan.

Day 4, after Blausee you could head to Kandersteg and Oeschinen Lake.

Day 5: What brings you to Gstaad? https://www.myswissalp s.com/gstaad

Day 6: I'd stay over night in Zermatt. See our suggestions here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/zermatt/hotels

Day 7: I think Montreux makes the most sense for a visit on your way from Zermatt to Zurich. A lot to see and do there: https://www.myswissalp s.com/montreux/activit ies

You may want to look at a Swiss Half Fare Card to get 50% off your cable car or train trips into the mountains: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisshalffarecar d

Hi Sachin,

Driving doesn't make visiting any mountains easier. You still have to take trains or cable cars into the mountains. Use the timetable to plan out the trip: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable

Aug 8: you could take a boat cruise on Lake Brienz (https://www.myswissalp s.com/boatlakebrienz)

Aug 9: Harder Kulm is perhaps a 1/2 day - you could also look at Schynige Platte or Thun depending on your interests: https://www.myswissalp s.com/schynigeplatte / https://www.myswissalp s.com/thun

Aug 10: Perhaps the hike from Maennlichen to Kleine Scheidegg: https://www.myswissalp s.com/hiking/maennlich en-kleinescheidegg
