Lauterbrunnen from Grindelwald questions

    we are planning to arrive Grindelwald around noon, from there go to Lauterbrunnen to see most of the fallls.

    1. Do you think we will have enough time to do this.

    2. What time do the places in Lauterbrunnen close and

    3. would I be able to catch the train back around 6pm or 8pm ?

    4. In August what time does it get dark ?

    Hi NJfam,

    1. Yes. By all the falls you means Trummelbach and Staubbach Falls? Any others?
    2. Stores in general? I’d guess around 6pm but some tourist shops will open later (except on a Sunday of course).

    Should be easy enough although you would have to ‘dump your bags and run’ to make the most of the afternoon.

    Assuming your accomodation is close to the station (might take much more time if it isn’t) If you arrive in Grindelwald on the train at 12.08, the next trains back out of Grindelwald would be 12.49 then 13.19.

    You would retrace your route back to Zweilütschinen, get off the train and wait for the next Interlaken – Lauterbrunnen train – you would get to Lauterbrunnen at 13.25 or 13.55.

    There are various web sites that show you not only sunset times, but when the sun is positioned throughout the day, for example:
