We are a family of six staying two days in Wengen. We’d love advice on the best way to accomplish/plan/what order to do something like the following:

    Train to the Junfraujoch observatory

Taking the “First Flyer” zip line in Grindelwald (from the cable car there)

Hiking a bit around Lake Bachalpsee and perhaps the first cliff walk.

Ending up for dinner in Interlaken

We are staying in Wengen. We are a family of 6. All of us would do items 1, 3 and 4, only three of do item 2 the zip line.

We are trying to understand the best package, timing etc. We bought a 3-day swiss rail pass to get from Zurich airport to Wengen, and then from Wengen to Zermatt and back to Zurich. We are staying two days in Wengen and then continuing to Zermatt. We plan to hike around Wengen one day, do the Jungfrau the other. We were advised not to select a specific day as the weather could be problematic but to wait until we arrive to choose based on weather, but would really appreciate your assistance.

    • Hallo Dan,

I think it’s the best if you do Wengen and the Jungfraujoch on one day (with walk to the Mönchhutte), and on the other day Grindelwald, with Grindelwald to First (with on First: First Flyer and also the Cliffwalk) and walk to Bachalpsee and back to First.

You can travel from Wengen to Grindelwald in three ways:

1- Wengen to Lauterbrunnen to Zweilitschinen to Grindelwald

2- Wengen to Mannlichen to Grindelwald Grund to Grindelwald

3- Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald

2 and 3 are very nice to do

    Greetings from the Netherlands, Brahms

    Hi Dan,

For train schedules to your planned destinations click here. You can plan your trips from Wengen to Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald and Interlaken (and any others).

For hiking suggestions and routes (including Lake Bachalpsee) click here (activities to do around Wengen).

You may or may not want to combine Jungfraujoch with some of your hiking ideas – either option is fine. If the weather looks good on day 1 then head up to Jungfraujoch and play it by ear for other hiking trips that day (you always have day 2 for that).
