We are looking to spend four nights in the Interlaken area and wonder if we should consider just staying in Interlaken because of the possible shoulder season closures or if we should consider Lauterbrennen or Wengen as places to stay. We will be coming from Zurich. We are looking for accommodations and restaurants open during this time in those town/villages. thank you.

I stayed in Lauterbrunnen in mid to late October in 2017 and most restaurants and hotels were closed then.

Thank you for the information. Did you go to Wengen and were there more establishments open?

    Hi and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The better of those three places would be Interlaken for sure, as it’s the bigger town. Lauterbrunnen and Wengen will be a lot quieter in the off-season…

Here are some links that may help you with accommodation in the two towns recommended:

    And information about the towns:

All the best for your trip!

    Maria.

I did stop by Wengen on the way up to Kleine Scheidegg but only spent 30 minutes or so and only stayed close to the train station. But it did seem as though there were very few people there.
