I will be in Switzerland between March, 30 and April, 5. My itinerary is that:

    1 – Bern – stay in town.

2 – Bern – go to Luzern and return.

3 – Bern – go to Gruyeres and return. (or go to Thun in the evening)

4 – Thun – go to Lauterbrunnen + Murren + Schilthron and return.

5 – Thun – go to Grindelwald (maybe First) + Wengen and return.

6 – Thun – enjoy Thun in the morning and in the afternoon go to Zermatt

    7 – Zermatt – go to Matterhorn

8 – Zermatt – enjoy Zermatt in the morning and in the afternoon go to Zurich.

    9 – Zurich – and finish.

    So, I’ve some doubts…

    – Is it better stay in Thun or should I stay in Grindewald, for exemple?

    – Is it too much visit Lauterbrunnen + Murren + Schilthron in the same day?

    – Is it too much visit Grindelwald and Wengen in the same day?

    – If the last two answers was “yes”. Which place must I choose?

    – I’m going to Zermatt, then, must I discard some place that I was mentioned?

    – if the weather is bad when I’m in Thun or Grindelwald, I’m thinking of going to Montreux (instead of going to an alpine village). Is it a good idea?

    Thank you!!!

    Hi Tati Moreira,

Nice that you’re coming to explore some of Switzerland.

I somehow have difficulties fitting your numbers 1 to 9 into the 7 days that you say you will be staying, am I misinterpreting something? Where do you plan to stay?

    As for your questions.
Thun and Grindelwald are both lovely and not too far apart, get an idea of the two places here:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/gr indelwald

Murren, Schilthorn and Lauterbrunnen is do-able in a day and the same it true for Grindelwald and Wengen.

Of course, this always depends on the travelling time you want to invest and the time you want to spend at the places. Use the helpful timetable below to find out details. Read how to use it first, it is a fantastic tool for planning.

    I wrote wrong… actually I’m staying between March, 28 – April, 5! Sorry 😉

I’m very worry about Thun or Grindelwald. I can’t decide between both… I’m reading about both places, and think I will love them… Looking at my itinerary, maybe I do not have time enough to visit both of it, maybe I must choose one… So, which one is more beautiful? If you need to choose one of all places I will visit, which one do you remove of my trip?

    Thank you!

    Hi Tati

If I understood correctly you will have time to visit both, just not stay overnight in both, right?

Thun will be more lake scenery and Grindelwald mountain scenery (as it’s higher up), both are lovely in their own way. If you have to prioritise where to stay overnight, people tend to prefer Grindelwald for the dramatic scenery.

Hope that helps, and have a wonderful trip!

    Maria.

    Thank you Maria!

My doubt is that… I will going to Zermatt too, so, Is the Grindelwald quite the same? In this case, I will choose Thun. Or, Is Thun seems like another place in my list?

    Hi Tati,

The difference between Thun and Zermatt is much bigger than between Grindelwald and Zermatt. You can explore Steph’s links to find details and see what appeals to you most.
