Hello All,

Looking for your kind advice about planning my last day .

I am spending 5 days around interlaken area then on my last day 31 October i need to get closer to Italy my plane leaves from Bergamo on the 3rd November.

I have swiss travel pass for 31 October i need your advice about what i can do in the last day if possible scenic train rides, or cable cars , boat ride. ending in a place near italy ?

and which city in italy i can use as base to make use of 1st and 2nd november before i leave from bergamo airports on 3rd November. i dono which one is best Domodossola , Lugano , Lucarno , varena ?

our main interest is local experience and walking around watching beautiful scenery.

Any tip is much appreciated.

Simple answer, there are mountain railways and lakes in the Ticino canton of Switzerland, right next to Italy. Just head for the Bellinzona/Locarno/Lugano area. Also there is a mountain railway right up close to the Italian border (Monte Generoso). Then you can either stay in Como or Milano, or better still go to Bergamo itself which is an interesting city in its own right

The Ticino is one of the regions of Switzerland discussed ion some detail on My Swiss Alps. Lot’s of useful information here:

It’s south of the Alps, so the weather tends to be warmer than the northern regions. Tha wil be pleasant at the end of October.
