Advice on Swiss rail passes for mixed itinerary
-
Hi! I have more or less an idea but like to seek a 2nd opinion if this is the best way. Any additional thoughts would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
As D2 D3 I will be in Zermett, I thought Peak Pass would be good to cover the local activities. I’m only moving on to other places during D4 to D7 so a 4Day consecutive Rail Pass should do the job better. Which left D1 not supported by either Pass hence I thought to get the Saver Day Pass. Btw I am unable to find Silver Round Trip for Pilatus as all seem to be only Golden Round Trip available for booking.
D1 – Day Saver Pass
- Trains from Charmonix to Zermatt, just hang around in the village
D2 – Peak Pass
- To Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge via Täsch or Randa.
D3 – Peak Pass
- To Matterhorn glacier paradise
- To Gronegrat
D4- 4day consective Swiss Travel Pass
- Zermatt to St Moritz (Glacier Express), to reserve seat separately
D5- same 4day consective Swiss Travel Pass
- St Moritz to Tirano (Bernina Express), to reserve seat separately
- Tirano to Lugano (Bernina Express), to reserve seat separately
D6- same 4day consective Swiss Travel Pass
- Lugano to Lucerne, train through the Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT)
- Mt Pilatus, book Silver round trip separately (still having problem finding where to book Silver trip)
D7 – same 4day consective Swiss Travel Pass
- Lucerne to Brunnen, book paddle steamer service number 7 separately
- Brunnen to Zurich airport via train
