Hi I am travelling with my family (2 adults 1 19 year old and one 16 year old) and need to know what train ticket to buy for the airport transfers to Davos Platz from 17-20 Feb. I want to make sure my ticket will be valid on alternative trains in case there are any flight delays.

Can you advise which ticket I should purchase as I need to get them soon as travelling an a week?

    thanks

    Hi NikkiB,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

If it’s only for 1 trip, I would consider getting the Saver Day Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass

Thanks – there is a typo in my header it’s a family of 4!

As we are only there a short time we will probably just need the return transfer tickets – I assume the saver day pass will be valid on all the trains for that day rather than a specific train – would there be trains we would not be able to use it on?

Correct. A Saver Day Pass is good for the whole day and on any train connection on the Swiss public transport network.

That’s really helpful – I understand the train station is located within the airport so once we have our luggage would 30 minutes be adequate to get to the train or should we allow more time?

Yes, I think 30 mins is enough time to get to the train.

If you already have a ticket, it can take as little as 10 minutes once you are through customs

Good morning – if I select a specific train and my plane is delayed can it be used on the next available train – or is this only available with the saver day pass?? There seems to be a lot of difference in price

The only ticket that ties you to a particular train is if you buy a Supersaver fare. See http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland.

    Hi NikiiB,

I corrected the titles, made your family complete here on the forum! 🙂

Quick clarification, you have three options if you “only” need to travel Zurich AP – Davos and back.

    1. A Saver Day Pass, as mentioned above – allows you quite wide travel throughout Switzerland on NUMEROUS CONNECTIONS, find detailed validity in the “Where it’s valid” section
    2. A Supersaver ticket, mentioned by Rockoyster, which allows you to ONLY ride ONE SPECIFIC COONNECTION (TRAIN), if you miss it, you pay again, so not really recommended choice from my perspective to use in connection with air-travel
    3. A regular point-to-point ticket, allowing you to use ANY CONNECTION on a SPECIFIC ROUTE (any train for that route on a chosen date)

Alternatively you might want to look into:

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Steph

Thanks – was hoping to save some money by buying the tickets in advance but I think the point to point may be safest option so I doubt that will change if I purchase on the day

There is the option of buying a Supersaver ticket for a train 3-4 hours after the planned arrival (or more?), if you’re ok spending some time in/around Zurich before catching the train in case of punctual arrival….?!?!? 🙂

Just don’t really know if it’s worth the few francs..

    Best,
    Steph
