Hi, we will have 6 days between 13-20 th May which will be our first time visiting Switzerland 🙂 we think that making a route for 1-2 days by train and for 4-5 days by car will be considerable. We love to see the beautiful views, lakes , mountains ,generally the nature and want to be flexible while taking photos or wandering around, thats why we aim to think travelling by car would be a better option, what do you think? Are there any must see places that we cant go by car and should take the train? Which route would you recommend mostly by car and then by train? I’m sure both options worth giving lots of time 🙂 but as our time is limited we just want to make the best of it with your recommendations 🙂 Thank you very much

    Hi Begumozguler,

You suaully recommend people to just travel everywhere by train in Switzerland – it is much simpler, often cheaper and as you mentioned there are many areas you can’t reach by train: towns such as Zermatt, Mürren and Wengen care car-free and of course most mountain attractions must be reached by train or gondola etc. Read about the pros and cons of train and car travel within Switzerland here.

For photographers though it is convenient to travel by car in order to stop and take pictures – however, I think most of the pictures you will take are in the towns or up in the mountains where you won’t be in a car. If you want to stop at a town on your way to a destination you can do so and just hop on a later train with the Swiss Travel Pass so that is still quite convenient.
