Hi all – a party of 3 adults plus one senior are going from Basel Airport to Wengen to ski. What’s the best rail ticket to get and is there a combined ticket with ski pass?

There’s no such thing as a combined long distance rail pass and a ski pass.

For skiers, the best ticket i officially the Swiss Transfer Ticket which got you from point of entry into Switzerland to the resort destination, but that might be undercuttable pricewise now with the saver day pass.

Hi Mark and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Yes, I’d look at either the Swiss Transfer Ticket (but it will be phased out as of 2019) or the Saver Day Pass, which when bought far enough out will be a better deal for you:

You can get a 29 Euro ticket from Deutsche Bahn from Basel to Wengen if you buy far enough in advance. To get the special “spar” price you input a German city as your start point; I used Baden Baden. You can get the German ticket on your phone or print it, then just get on the correct train in Basel. It’s cheap, but you can only ride on the specified trains. It’s one way to get from the border to a location within Switzerland without paying the higher SBB price, but you need to buy the ticket well ahead of time and you can’t cancel or use other trains.
