Basel vs St Gallen in December for day trip

    Good day! Would like to ask some opinions regarding which city to visit in mid December for a day trip from Zurich. Basel or St Gallen? Not visiting museums but just strolling in the city. Both seem to have impressive Christmas markets too. Thank you.

    St Gallen is quite a small city. I recommend Basel. There is quite a lot to do, and even in winter the view of the Rhine river should be nice

    I went to the Christmas market there about 25 years ago – it was superb
