Hello, I’d like to book 2 Belle Epoque classic car reserved seats for September 20 from Montreux to Zweissimen. I see there is an 8:44 train with 1st and 2nd class availability. We will have a 2nd class swiss travel pass. Are the 2nd class trains also this classic style and do you recommend the 1st class vs. second class? Will there be any sort of beverage service on this route? From there, we are considering taking the 11:39 train from Zweissimen to Interlaken Ost. Would we need a reservation?

Thanks! This is such a helpful forum!

    Hello Ninachen,

As you’re planning to have a special treat on the Belle Epoque train of the Golden Pass route you might as well go for a 1st class ticket, but that’s just a spontaneous reaction.

Regarding the beverage service on board, yes, there will be, as you can see in this following thread, incl. a link to the menue:

You will NOT need a reservation for the continuing train Zweisimmen – Interlaken.

Best and thanks for your appreciation of the forum.

Thanks, Steph! I got the 1st class reservations in the Belle Epoque car. Since I will have a 2nd class STP, when and where should I get the 1st class ticket upgrade? Can I buy that on the train? Thanks again.

If you are travelling with a 2nd Class Swiss Travel Pass but want to travel 1st Class on any particular trip you can buy a Class upgrade at any SBB station or using the SBB Mobile App or here bit.ly/2rZEIXh. You need to buy a route specific upgrade.

If you buy on line you need to nominate a Half-fare Card reduction to get the correct price (using either website of SBB app). An upgrade will cost half the difference between 1st and 2nd class full-fares.
