    Hi

our trip to Switzerland is from 9th to 18 th August. 3 days in bern, 4 days in Lucern, 3 days in Lauterbrunnen. Airbnb booked. We are thinking of buying 8 day swiss pass. So first two days from zurich to bern will be not using pass.

can anybody suggest things to do near by bern in first two days?

day 3 day trip to Montreux from bern via golden pass train.

When i see on sbb app how i know that it is golden pass train?? Not able to understand timetable on golden pass website too complicated.

Can anyone suggest best route for that day?? What else to include? Lausanne vevey?? Can anyone suggest different routes for both times?

    thanks

    Hi

The Golden Pass Line starts from lucerne to Montreux, so you can join it from Bern in any city through the line , the nearest will be Spiez

you can have a look on the map to understand it more cdn-doc.myswissalps.com/do cs/default-source/rail-network-maps/swisstravelsystem .pdf?sfvrsn=7788603a_34

In the sbb website you can find the train with a sign of MOB PANORAMIC , also the line is not exclusive for this train , as regular trains also pass through the same line which you can ride

Hi Nidhimehta and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Unless you don’t travel outside of Bern for those 3 days you might want to reconsider not using the Swiss Travel Pass – the 15 day Swiss Travel Pass isn’t too much more, and then you can take trains from Bern around the country really easily. https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable
Bern has excellent rail connections around the country.

For an idea on the town of Bern look here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/bern

As Ramez notes, the panoramic trains on the SBB timetable between Zweisimmen and Montreux are denoted as MOB Panoramic.

I’d travel Bern to Zweisimmen and then to Montreux. You could visti Lausanne after and then train back to Bern of that is your final destination that day.

    Thank you.

We will think of buying 15 day pass. 1) can u suggest day trips from bern other then towards lucern or interlaken?? Like west side from bern??

    2) Montreux and castle and Lake Geneva boat trips

    3) changing airbnb day – anything to do near by bern?? If we find something to spend all day then will move in evening to lucern or we should move to lucern in morning?

    4) in lucern we want to do pilatus titlis or rigi. And day trip to locarno

thank you so much to all.

    1. Neuchatel area is quite nice. Have a look at this thread for ideas: https://www.myswissalp s.com/forum/topic/day-trip-to-neuchatel-region-tips-requested
    2. https://www.myswissalp s.com/montreux/activit ies
    3. If the weather is nice you can tube down the Aare river. 🙂 Otherwise, if you are interested in mountain trips and not the city of Bern, I would move to Lucerne earlier in the day.
    4. ok. You have time for that over 4 days. You can plan your trips with the Swiss railways timetable: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable
