This question asked in April was not answered as black and white as I wanted it to be so sorry I have to ask again. If we buy an 8 day BO pass and initiate use at 14:00 on day 1 does it last until 14:00 eight 24 hour time periods later? That is a key question; it is the difference between needing an 8 day pass or a 10 day pass (since 9 is not available). In other words, is a “day” 24 hours from the time of initiation of travel (ex. 14:00 to 14:00 ) or is a day started at 00:01 (or 5:00) the day travel will be initiated even if travel does not occur until 14:00. I think you indicated the latter; want to be sure as there is a cost difference, obviously. . Thank you

    Hi Mattie,

We have just returned from our vacation in Switzerland a few days ago. We had Bernese Oberland passes for 8 days. There were just the starting and finishing dates written on them, not the hours. You don’t validate them at a machine to indicate the time you started using them , so it is fair to assume that the 8 days are only calendar days.

    Hi Mattiedog,

Yes, it is calendar days so an 8 day pass bought for September 1 is valid up to and including September 8. The time you first use the pass on “day 1” doesn’t matter.

You may want to either buy the 10 day version, or just buy a point to point ticket if you just have one trip on day 9 and it isn’t far or expensive.

The timetable will give you pricing (but note the first price is the Swiss Half Fare Card price, so double it for regular fares). http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable
