Best day hikes off the Bernina Route mid October

Starting Wednesday, I will have 2 days to get from Chur to Tirano. I would like to do 1 or 2 day hikes along the way. I would love suggestions for hikes (with a short description of the hike) that are easily accessed from the route – either by walking or public transportation. . Once I figure that out I can decide where to spend the night. Thanks very much!
