    Morning all

We are getting there with our travel plans. Where is the best start point for entering Italy? Interlaken or Lucerne? Quickest would be best but if not much more time and more scenic we are open to that. We have decided to skip Milan and go straight to Bologna.

    Thanks

    Beks

    Hello Beks,

You can use the SBB Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to figure out the best/quickest route from anywhere in Switzerland to anywhere in Italy. From Luzern you would go south to Lugano and exit Switzerland at Chiasso. From Interlaken you would go via Brig to exit at Domodossola.

Thanks, I’ve done that and it looks like Interlakern is the quickest but just wanted to know if that is the best option.

The quickest way from Luzern goes through the 57Km Gotthard Base Tunnel. You can go via Göschenen for a more scenery.

From Interlaken go via Kandersteg to Brig for a slightly longer more scenic route.

    Hi Beksschnurig,

What does best mean for you?

Avoiding tunnels as Rockoyster notes will get you the most scenery. So via Göschenen from Luzern or via Kandersteg from Interlaken.
