After reading many forums I think my best option is to buy a half price fare pass. My itinerary: I arrive at Zurich Airport and need to transport to lausanne. The next 10 days are covered with a Travel Group. The last day of the Travel Group ends in Lucerne. I have added 5 days to my itinerary and I am staying in Murren. Plan to hike as well as take Mt trains and see as much as possible. I then fly out of Zurich Airport. Do you agree that Swiss half fare card best option? Thanks Carol
Without doing the math, the Swiss Half Fare Card is probably a good bet. https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisshalffarecar d
Always nice to get 50% off all cable cars and trains around the Jungfrau Region (https://www.myswissalp s.com/jungfrauregion).
It will also get you 50% off your trips to and from Lausanne and Murren. A regional pass is also something to consider but is only valid once you get to the area and only good for travel in the Jungfrau Region. Two to look at are:

To know which rail pass is the best for your specific itinerary you need to plan out all trips you will make (train, bus, boat, cable car) and compare the prices for regular tickets to the rail pass price (and which routes/mountains are free or discounted). Once you have that information you can read our page here on how to choose the best rail pass. There is a spreadsheet there to help with the math. :) https://www.myswissalp s.com/train/ticketspas ses/practical/choosera ilpass
