Me and three friends are traveling to Switzerland for a ski vacation the end of February and we’re wondering which rail pass would be our best option. We fly into Zurich and then will take the train to Interlaken and stay for 4 nights. We’ll ski there 3 days. If I understand correctly, our ski passes include any trains to the ski lifts?? After the 4th night, we’ll take the train from Interlaken to Visp and then transfer to the train into Zermatt. Staying there 2 nights. We will take the train to Zurich from Zermatt on the afternoon of our last full day. Does the Swiss Transfer ticket work to go from Zurich to Interlaken the first day and then Zermatt to Zurich the last day? And is that cheaper than the full pass if we have the train from Interlaken to Zermatt in the middle of the week?

Hello Skimyswissrt and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

You can use the Swiss Transfer Ticket as described.

You could also buy a Saver Day Pass for a cheaper connection between Interlaken and Zermatt. If you use the SBB Mobile App it will offer you a Saver Day Pass as an option for that route if it is less than the full fare. The cheapest SDP is CHF52. But conditions apply to it’s availability. See http://www.myswissalps.com/on edaytravelpass/details

A 3-day Swiss Travel Pass Flex is another alternative to the above but I don’t think it would be as cost effective provifing you can get a good priced SDP.

The ski pass coverage depends on the ski pass itself. In the Jungfrau region there are different ski passes for different ski areas. Check out the Jungfrau ski area here.
