    Hello Yusuf128,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Bernina Express to Tirano is certainly a wonderful route: Bernina Express: http://www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress

Surrounding Zurich, there are small quaint Swiss villages you could visit without a car and use just the trains. There is also Greiffensee, which is a small lake located 11km east of Zurich city.

I will attach a link about Zurich: http://www.myswissalps.com/zurich

Depending on what time you arrive in Zurich airport, if it’s earlier in the day, you could go to Lucerne: http://www.myswissalps.com/lucerne and see Mt. Pilatus: http://www.myswissalps.com/pilatus or Mt. Rigi: http://www.myswissalps.com/rigi

Here is a link about trains to Italy from Switzerland: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/italy

For your two days in Switzerland, I would suggest getting 2 – Saver Day Passes. The details of the pass is outlined here: http://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass

The earlier you purchase the Saver Day Passes, the better the prices are, however there are limited amount of passes for sale and they do sell out.

Please refer to the train timetable for your travels and download the SBB app on your smart phone:

    I hope that helps!

    Best regards,

    Suzanne

    Hi Suzanne.

Thanks for your response. All informations you have provided me are very usefull.

May i ask 2 more questions?

if i dont use berlina, which route do you recommend me for 3 days while i go to milano?

My route will start zurih. i will stay there 1 day and then i have 2 days more to spend time in Switzerland as i go to milano.

if i want to use berlina route, and use local trains, do i have chance to see some of alp mountains switzerland villages by stoping some stations? And stay these places 2 days? if yes which stations do you recommend me?

You might get some ideas at http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/trip-report-day-8-14-of-5-week-trip-mayjune.

The best place to experience the Alps is the Jungfrau Region above Interlaken but that’s not the best way to get to Milan.

You might think about going direct to Luzern instead of staying at Zurich. From Luzern you can do a day trip to the Jungfrau Region. Then take the Gotthard Panorama Express from Luzern to Lugano and on to Milan.

There are innumerable permutations. Keep exploring options to get the best fit for your goals.

That’s correct. I recommend you stick to your ‘Bernina’ plan, as a sensible leisurely way spend your days without charging around trying to fit in all the ‘standard’ tourist places. As you rightly identify, use local trains on the Bernina railway. This allows you to stop off at many points along the way.

However, your route would be Zürich – Chur – St Moritz – Tirano. Before you reach the Bernina Railway, you would also traverse the Unesco listed Albula Railway, which has many lovely places to stop off on route. For example there are nice hotels in Filisur and Bergün Bravuogn

    Hello Yusuf,

You don’t need to stay in Maienfeld if you don’t want to. Use the timetable provided by Suzanne to find connections to any base you might consider for that night. Of course there is the possibility to stay in Maienfeld, it’s a wonderful village:
