Best travel option from Bern to Lake Como

    we will be in bern and need to travel by train july 29 to lake como . which would be the best option for getting there . is it really necessary to go to milan first and then on to como ? please need info. thanks so much for help.

    What is you criteria for “best”? Quickest or more scenic? Which part of Lake Como are you seeking to get to? It’s a big lake.

    I would say:-

    Bern to Olten and change

    Olten to Lugano and change for a regional train, or Olten to Milano Centrale via Chiasso which will stop in Como.

    PS- Don’t get on the Milano Centrale train via Stresa otherwise you’ll waste an hour or so changing in Milan.

    I highly recommend Lake Lugano over Como;)
