    Hello,

My husband and I have planned for trip to switzerland in First week of May. We are arriving in Geneve on 29th April,2016 late in the evening.

    • Day 1(April 30)- We have a plan to roam in Geneve in the morning and leave to Lausane by Boat , then to Chillon and spend time there.
    • Next 4 days in Zermatt,Montreux, Jungfrajouh, Trummelbach falls, Bern.
    • Day 5 – late evening arriving in Zurich.
    • Day 6(May 5th)- Spend some time in Zurich and leave from switzerland.

With this plan of 6 days, is it better to get 8 days travel pass or 4 days pass(with day pass in Zurich and Geneve)? But can we use the Geneve day pass from geneve to Lausane for boat trip ?

We would like to have the most efficient way to travel. Any advice will be appreciated.

    Many Thanks,

    Saranya

    Hi Saranya, welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Geneva Travel Card that comes for free when booking a hotel in Geneva is for public transportation only, so the boat to Lausanne/Montreux won’t be included. The Geneva Pass covers a larger area, but still won’t get you as far as Lausanne/Montreux. So a 4 day Swiss Travel Pass combined with one of the local passes for day 1 and a ZurichCard for day 6 might work, if you either rearrange your plans and focus on the immediate Geneva area, or if you don’t mind paying additionally for part of the trips on your 1st day.

Over all, the 8 day Swiss Travel Pass would be the most convenient option as it covers all of your trips. Whether it’s more economical can only be decided by making calculations as explained here. You could also include the Swiss Half Fare Card in your comparisons.
